Study title: Rates of infection following craniotomy or craniectomy with subsequent cranioplasty in traumatic brain injury.
Purpose of this study: Postoperative infection is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients who undergo craniotomy/craniectomy and cranioplasty. In this retrospective study, we are interested in the infection rate of cranioplasty surgeries in Alberta and what modifiable risk factors are related to infection. The aim of this study is to define a protocol that could help decrease the infection rate in the future.
